Escribiendo en la máquina de escribir

I have been writing since I was seven years old. I'm a creative writer across short stories, novels, theater, and song lyrics.

In my community work, I teach women and queer folks to unlock their creativity and value their own stories through autobiographical writing and Playback improvisational theater.

My creative work celebrates nature, diversity, self-knowledge, and a deep understanding of the "inter-being" – how we affect each other and the need to see beyond the individual.

In music, I design ecological audiotrails that blend storytelling, sound design, local legends, botany, and zoology – creating experiences that connect people emotionally to the value of nature.

I am Latina and Palestinian by descent, a member of the LGBTQI+ community, and I have always focused my work on social justice, human rights, and the rights of Nature.

Creative Writing & Awards

Some of my work has earned prices and acknowledgments such as:

  • 2024 – Araucanía in 100 Words: Micro-story selected among 7,000 participants, also chosen for the Best 100 Microstories book (launched 2024). A heartwarming story about living in a place where winter and nature are powerful forces.

  • 2017 – Stella Corvalán Award (Second Prize): For the short story "Nailed in the Clouds." An imaginative take on cultural appropriation – how traditional Indigenous textiles have become a commodity, now mass-produced in China.

  • 2016 & 2022 – Ministry of Cultures Book Grant (twice awarded): Stories in D Minor: Six short stories about the backstage lives of musicians – their struggles, beauty, and everything in between.

  • Mucali and the Secret Mirror: A children's novel about a dystopian world where technology and oppression repress diversity, nature, and inner life. The magical animals who once ruled the Earth rise again, leading a rebellion of three children determined to restore life's natural course.

  • 2020 – Ministry of Cultures Playwriting and Production Grant: For the children's play Mucali and the Secret Mirror (adapted from the novel). Same story: a dystopian society crushes nature and diversity, but children and magical animals fight back.

  • 2024 – Ministry of Cultures Drama Writing Grant: For the play Orange Valley. Set in a small town in Chile's Atacama Desert, it explores environmental destruction and colonialism through the story of an elderly lesbian woman who refuses to leave her house as the land slowly swallows it.

UN PONCHO EN EL ALMA

TRANSLATION: A "PONCHO" ON THE SOUL

A southern storm is a serious matter. There is no choice: we must trust that the roofs do not fly away, that the trees do not falter, that the rains do not wash everything away. The firewood is prepared, the stovepipe is cleaned, the "mate" is heated, the cat is brought into the bed. Surely electricity will be cut off and with it, goodbye water pump. Things that city folks do not know anything of, accostumed to the reliable switch. That's why people here in the South are friendlier: you need a poncho on your soul to survive so many clouds.

Mucalí and the Secret Mirror  takes place in a dystopian world. Technology and the oppression of all diversity have created an authoritarian society where contact with nature and the inner world are repressed in favor of a homogeneous and "happy" life. But the forces of nature are unbreakable and the resurgence of the magical animals that once ruled the Earth will bring about a rebellion led by three children willing to return life to its natural course.

Mucalí is a participatory theater play whose outcome is imagined by the audience. Its creation and production were funded by the Performing Arts Fund of the Ministry of Culture of Chile. Its audiovisual version has aired on national tv channel (NTV Family Channel).

It is also a novel written in three books, the first part of which was awarded the Creation grant from the Book Fund of the Ministry of Culture of Chile in 2022.

Sound narratives
for conservation

As part of my work, I create immersive audiotrails for Nature Reserves and conservation projects.

I am particularly interested in working with territories that have been affected by armed conflict or other forms of oppression.

My role includes writing scripts, composing original music, recording and editing voices, and using field recordings captured on location — such as water, animals, wind, and insects.

I also incorporate local legends, biological facts, and conservation status information into the narratives. The result is a layered, sensory experience that connects visitors to the land and its stories.

Audiotrail for Ritmo del Río Nature Reserve in San Rafael, Colombia. This territory was heavily affected by armed conflict, with 95% of the inhabitants considered to have been victims. This work is a small contribution to healing the land — through the appreciation of its natural and cultural value — to building a culture of peace, and to safeguarding this territory of immense natural abundance, so that history does not repeat itself.

Organizational Storytelling

For the past 14 years, I have made a conscious choice: to dedicate my work exclusively to nonprofits and green businesses. I believe in organizations that improve community lives, safeguard nature and ancestral wisdom, and use culture as a tool for well-being

What I do:

  • Help organizations find their narrative thread – stories that win grants, engage donors, and connect with communities

  • Adapt and improve programs

  • Support grant applications

  • Enrich presentations, brochures, and materials

  • Write web and social media copy

  • Craft video scripts that convey the heart of each project

  • Design development strategies

  • Integrate culture and education to make programs more innovative and impactful
