Woman of Fist and Letter" is an autobiographical writing laboratory for women from marginalized sectors of society. It contributes to distributing the power of the narratives that shape us as humanity, fostering creative practices, facilitating the search for deep meaning in everyday life, capturing and giving visibility to non-dominant narratives. The oppressive and hierarchical construction of a world that only acknowledges certain perspectives, disregarding diversity and elevating dominant narratives to the top of society while suppressing others to the bottom, is a situation that needs to be changed. Even stories about underrepresented people often perpetuate this model, with privileged groups appropriating the narratives and presenting them from their own viewpoints, depriving people of the right to tell their own storie. On their own terms. We want to share the microphone, so to speak. We want to facilitate a space to create in a collaborative manner where the “artist” is one of the pack of many artists (who didn´t know they were also artists, because they were never given the chance).
Woman of Fist and Letter brings together women from different contexts for a programme o where they explore, share, and create around their own stories, culminating in the creation of a book. This initiative is based in Chile, and is part of Zapp School of Transformative Creativity.

Following a successful first version in 2023, which attracted 243 registrations within a week (demonstrating the eagerness of women in the region to reflect, converse, and explore around their own stories), we are currently working to strengthen and broaden the impact of this program.
